The revolution will not be televised, news of its failure will be received as a txtmsg on your iPhone and on Twitter.

It won’t be live and it won’t be Memorex… It just isn’t going to happen.

Bob Marley, Gil Scott-Heron, The Beatles and Public Enemy are all wrong.  People are not going to rise up, we are never going to change this world.  We’re too busy blogging about flavored toothpaste, arguing about twinkly vampires and learning to play fake guitars.  We’re having too much fun, even in a time when we’re bitching about how bad things are.  The economy is shit, but everyone’s got a new laptop.

We’re not angry enough, we don’t want change because that might mean losing what we already have.  And what we have is mostly illusion.  We’re bloated.  We’re absorbed in a land of make-believe we created to escape reality and now we don’t want to wake up.

Rome fell for less decadence than this.

The failed revolution will not be televised, broadcast or even blogged.  But it will go better with Coke…
