This is one of the better movies I’ve seen in a long time. It’s not flashy, it’s not spectacular, there are even parts of it that I don’t like. But all around, I think this is a great movie.
I used to do complete movie spoilers every time I posted about a movie I saw. Now I’m only doing that with movies that have been out for a while. Ink is still new so I won’t go into much detail here.
The movie opens with the kidnapping of a little girl. We see there is a dreamworld just beyond ours and while the girl’s essence has been stolen in the dreamworld, her physical body becomes ill. Through flashback scenes we see that her father was absent for much of the girl’s life. Now he’s the only one who can save her and in doing so, redeem himself.
Yeah, okay, when its put like that it sounds a bit cheesy and rehashed but I liked it. There was a lot of dark imagery countered with plenty of hopefulness. It was a very good telling of the story you think you’ve seen a hundred times before. And even if you have, this version will stick with you for a while.
