So, if anyone watched the news last night they’d know that downtown at rush hour was a mess. I was one of the unfortunate people in that mess and let me say it was seriously frustrating. I sat at the light right by the lighthouse for 13 cycles – Never moving an inch! A 15 minute ride from Becca’s school to Arlington took me over an hour and a half. They had several streets blocked off with Police everywhere and traffic just SAT there. Poor Becca was starving to death and I couldn’t cut across traffic either way, we were like a bunch of canned sardines. GRRRR! I figured picking her up from school at 4:45pm I’d have enough time to stop and pick up dinner before  heading to my meeting at 6:15. HA! I pulled into the parking lot of my meeting at 6:30!! All the while Becca was bitching and whining that she didn’t have dinner yet. UH, neither did I and I’m just as cranky. Luckily one of the GS troops was having a bake sale at the meeting and luckily I had a whole $1.50 in my purse so Becca could get a couple of cookies and a coke to tide her over until the end of the meeting.

A few months ago, I noticed a lady at one of our meetings that looked vaguely familiar. I swear I knew her but just couldn’t remember from where. Last night, she was in front of me signing in and I watched as she wrote her name. HA! Now I know where I know her! We were in school together from 7th until 12th. Of course, me being me, I never said a word to her… until after the meeting. Chris would be so proud, I actually walked up to her at the end of the meeting and said, “I just have to know, are you ?? and she looked at me like I was nuts and said yeah. Whew! That would have been so embarassing had she said no! But anyway, It was cool that she remembered me too and we talked a few minutes before I headed out for home.

Today I do the volunteer thing and head into Becca’s school for the Honor Roll Luncheon. Parents are asked to do at least one of the 4 lunches or help with set up/clean up. Me being the idiot I am, volunteered for set up through clean up. I’ll be heading up there at 10 and staying until 1:30 to help with the entire event. I don’t know why I do it, Becca pretends I don’t exist when she comes into the luncheon. Her friends run up and say hello, Becca just ignores me. Oh well, maybe today I’ll wear thick black eyeliner and blood red lipstick with a sign around my neck that says “Becca’s Mom” on it.  That’ll get her.

Just a few more days till Chris comes home. I can’t wait. Two and a half weeks without him here is terrible and lonely! I seriously need a hug!
