The good stuff… I never talk about the good stuff that happens every once in a while.. Maybe today I can get through a post with only good stuff…

I went to my monthly Service Team meeting last week and they tried… unsuccessfully.. to keep me on as coach. I informed them that it was either my marriage or coaching and well.. it was a no brainer.. I got the usual, “you are an amazing coach, I never have to tell you to do something twice, if there is an issue to solve, you’re right on it.” Yeah yeah, (giggle/smile) it’s not going to work, I’m not going to be a coach next year. I even went so far (as secretary) to write it on our minutes that a Coach was needed for my cluster. I wanted to make it REAL official. And then.. on Thursday I went to my monthly Service Meeting. I had to turn in paperwork to our registrar and as I walked away from her she said, “Teresa, you are amazing, you are an awesome coach!” Huh? She said that I was the only coach in all the clusters that never had paperwork returned to be corrected, paperwork was always neat and legible (because I check it before the leaders turn it in) and all my Leaders seemed to be getting along and doing what needed to be done. She said that most of the clusters were falling apart (even her own) with Leaders not returning next year and last check… all my leaders were returning. (giggle giggle) My response to her was, “THANK YOU… I quit.” She’s the one that got me started in all of this, she’s the one that warned me 7 years ago NEVER to volunteer for positions. She was quite happy to hear I quit SOMETHING! And it made me feel good that someone actually appreciates my hard work and dedication to Girl Scouts.

The girls have been working hard this year on their Silver Award. With three of our girls bridging up to Seniors the end of this year, we needed to kick butt and get it done. Along with all of the Silver Award stuff, the girls have been working with the Daisy Troop, planning two Service Events and doing a ton of community service. And of course because I’m a glutton for punishment, I signed our girls up to help “Pond Scape” our new Camp Ground. The girls had to research plants that would work well in Florida and in the environment blah blah. We started with 8 girls working on the project and in the end we had 5 girls that actually followed through. We spent this past weekend planting Weeping Willows, Water Lilies, Soft Rush and bullet brush. The girls had a blast, the chaperons had fun hanging out and talking and it was just an amazing weekend. No fights, no drama, no accidents. Of course, It just makes me realize even more that I HATE gardening and that I really need to find someone that will do that for me this year… for cheap!!!

In less than weeks we’ll be going away for a couple of days.. My phone will be turned off, I will not have computer access and I will spend 72+ hours with just Becca and Chris. No day care, no children, no Girl Scouts, no bills, no house issues.. I won’t think of returning to reality.. it will just depress me.. I’m looking forward to getting away, I NEED to get away…
