That’s two flights in a row that actually scared the crap out of me.  This one was only for a split second but still, it was unnerving.

The flight attendant decided to attack the guy in front of me this time.  But he was in the wrong…  See how that works?  When she yells at me, she’s a bitch.  When she yells at someone else, he should have followed the rules.  This guy wouldn’t put his laptop away for takeoff.  When he finally did, she had to tell him three times that the seat pouch in front of him is not good enough.  Then she reminded him (twice) to put his seat all the way up, he started to get pissed.  I know how he feels but hey he’s someone else, not me, so fuck ‘em!

It was a normal enough flight.  Little bumps and thumps along the way.  I woke up at one point and couldn’t tell if the white below us was clouds or snow, beautiful.  When we hit Lake Michigan we started coming down again.  We were making our approach and the plane shifted and turned on its side.  I reached up to grab… nothing.  When you tilt, you instinctively try to grab something to keep you from falling don’t you?  I don’t know, but I did.

The baggage compartment above us opened up and the guy across the aisle from me was hit in the face with a couple of coats and a laptop case.  See?  I wasn’t exaggerating, something from above my head hit a guy across the aisle in the face.  We were ON OUR SIDE!!!  But it was only a split second.  We tilted, corrected and everything went back to normal.  We landed, no problems.  But that’s two flights in a row that if Teresa was on them, she’d never fly again.

I’m getting setteled in and I’ve got an hour or two before we have to head over to the airport again to begin work.  It’s the first transition for this airport and the guy that did most of the planning, has all the answers and all the phone numbers got moved to another project YESTERDAY!  So now they put me in charge but I don’t have all the documentation…  I feel like a stunt replacement for a movie star.  He got to drive the fancy car and get all the close up shots.  Just when we’re about to make the final dramatic jump that will make him an action hero they yell “CUT!”  Then I come in, they strap me in and say, “Good luck!”

  1. You’re going to do this flight thing once a month for a while, I hope this doesn’t become a habit.
