inside joke…..:)
How long has it been since I posted??? FOREVER! So much to say, so little space… Beware – this will be a LONG one!
After working real hard at staying away from sick people – even my own sweet Becca who caught a cold and mommy treated her like a leper – I almost missed my surgery on the 19th due to a kidney stone. UGH! That sucker hurt. The Wednesday before my surgery I decided to play nice mommy and run Becca to school. We stopped at Starbucks and headed downtown. About the time I got to the drive thru, I got this nasty pain in my lower back left side. It ached like crazy and my first thought was – INFECTION YUCK! Just when we hit 95 the pain shot right into my lower abdomen/groin area and I just KNEW my ovary had expoded (TMI – Sorry). Oh my, the pain was terrible. I kept my cool, drove Becca to school and got half way home before I thought – maybe I should go to the hospital. NOPE, I drove home, cried a little, sat up,stood up, laid down blah blah and after another 30 minutes of pain, I broke down, woke Chris up and told him I needed the ER. Chris drives 90mph down New Berlin, practically running over cars to get them out of the way, luckily I was in too much pain screaming and crying to yell at him (well, kinda). The pain was excruciating and by the time we hit 8th Street, Chris decided we weren’t going to hit St.Vincent’s on Barr – we were hitting Shands. UGH! The pain was so bad, I agreed – well, until we hit the parking lot and the pain disappeared.Gone completely! We ended up checking in and sitting down but after about a 20 minute wait my ob/gyn called me and told me to get the hell out of Shands and come to them. So, we headed over there, I had an ultrasound of the so called exploding ovary, the doctor looked at me and said, “kidney stone.” I thought Chris was going to piss himself laughing. So not funny! So the doctor tells me as long as I don’t pass another I can have my surgery. GRRR! Luckily I was able to have my surgery on Friday. It went smooth and tomorrow I will have my follow-up appointment to make sure I’m alright and they didn’t find any nasty stuff. WOO HOO.
Christmas came and went – I had several complete melt-downs but Chris was awesome and helped me through it. The warm weather, the lack of Dad, Liz, Jerry and so on and the knowledge that I only had Chris for a handful of days just broke me down completely. I’m all better now that the holidays are over but I still miss everybody terribly.New Years sucked – all our plans crashed and burned so out of total bordom and complte laziness Chris & I hit the bed at 9:30, did some reading and zonked out before the 1st firework lit the sky at midnight. God, we’re so OLD! We were able to visit with a handful of friends while Chris was home. We even got to hook up with some old lost friends and it was like we’d never been apart. We haven’t seen John & Kim for years? Maybe? And we hooked up twice over the break and it was like we’d we’d been hanging out forever was so cool! We had some good visits, some pleasant visits and some stressful visits but it was great seeing everyone! We weren’t able to hook up with as many people as we wanted to but Chris swears next time he’s in town, we’ll work on seeing a few more until we’re caught up.
My business is moving again… If my furniture ever shows up then I’ll be able to contact my DCF person and my Health Dept person to come out and do their inspections. Once done, I should be approved, given my license and be ready for business. I’m so excited. Unfortunately, these two ladies are insisting I have a changing table even though I don’t have any infants and can’t guaranty I’ll have any infants. We took out a small business loan before the holidays and I bought all this cool furniture for my front room but forgot the changing table. Now, I’m broke and searching for a very inexpensive changing table to get this business going! I refuse to buy anything else until I get my license. So, if anyone knows anyone with a changing table -Please, let me know!
Becca was so ready for school to start today, so was I because over the holidays her “common sense” went on holiday. She’s doing some mighty stupid things lately that I just can’t believe she’d do. She had a friend come over the other day and they went for a walk, that walk included sitting down in the middle of the road (that’s New Berlin??) to take pictures of each other. Hello? Is that smart? NO! Another incident that I found out by accident was that she and a friend were making short video’s from her camera and then they decided to put it on Youtube without our knowledge. Becca tells us everything, if she’s in doubt she asks but last night we found 6 video shows on youtube that we didn’t know about dating back several months. They are cute little clips of the girls having fun BUT… why weren’t we asked? Why weren’t we told?? We try to keep an eye on what she does on the internet but apparently it’s not enough – the strings just got a little tighter around her now for her lack of common sense. If she’d have just ASKED or at least mentioned what she was doing instead of hiding… UGH, when will she learn?
I myself am having a blast on Facebook and MySpace. I have found so many old friends it’s amazing. One of my friends from Delaware found me – I haven’t seen or talked with her since 6th grade. She even found some old photos of the two of us and put them on facebook. So cool. I found my best friend Freddy on Myspace and the sister of my good friend from middle school on facebook (who of course put me in touch with my buddy Felicia). I’m having so much fun! Simple pleasures, I know – I’m a simple person.
I’ve got so much more to say but I’ll save that for another day!!!
