I really like the recent geek chic movement.  I don’t know how deep it will penetrate or how long it will last but for this moment it might be cool to be a geek.  (Unless you observe the moment, then it just collapses into probability amplitudes and really, who wants that?) Okay, maybe not cool but a lot less uncool…

I’ve seen t-shirts recently that proclaim geekyness out in public.  I like this because even though I’m just an amateur geek, I still get the humor.  It’s a bit sad that I’m the only one in my current environment that understands the jokes though.  When I had to explain to the guys why I chuckled at a shirt that said, “ √1   ♥   Math ” and they still didn’t understand… sigh…  I’m so alone out here…  My friends back home would have gotten that.  Hell, they might already own the t-shirt!

But it’s not their fault.  Getting geek humor is not a sign of intelligence.  It’s a sign of not having a real life.  They don’t understand quantum mechanics and theoretical physics because they understand real world stuff like football and relationships…  Teresa always gets upset with me because I’ll go off into scienceland for a exhausting explanation for a simple problem and when she doesn’t follow me she feels like I’m calling her stupid.  She doesn’t understand, she’s a lot smarter that I am, I just know weirder shit.

So in an effort to cheer her up, here is a love poem I saw and made me think of her:

Roses are #FF0000
Violets are #0000FF
All my base
Are belong to you
