What a week – What a weekend! Talk about being run down and beat up.
Saturday was our annual end of the year field trip for Girl Scouts. Our cookie profits allowed us to afford a trip up to Valdosta to visit Wild Adventures for the day. It just so happened to be their annual Girl Scout day event so needless to say there were girls of all ages EVERYWHERE. For every one boy, I swear there were 25 girls. We left Jacksonville at 7:30am with the understanding we’d be back in Jacksonville at 6pm. HA! The thought was we’d hit the amusement park first thing, then have lunch and then hit the water park. Well, that actually worked out quite well except when 4pm came around the girls refused to go home! They were having such a wonderful time we decided to give them one more hour. At 5pm they were still riding rides, so we decided to give them just a few more minutes. At 6pm they decided they were hungry and had to have dippin’ dots and funnel cakes, so we put off leaving a little bit longer. At 6:30 they remembered they had to hit the souvenier shops. At 7pm I cried for mercy and we were finally able to get out of the park. Ever seen a grown woman cry? They did!! The sunblock didn’t work for me, I was burned to a crisp and exhausted with swollen ankles and burned lips. I haven’t had my BP medicine for over 10 days because of a screw up with the pharmacy & doctor’s office AND the transition from one insurance to another (with Chris’s new job) so I was having a miserable time with the heat, sun and my own body rebelling. I was a good sport all day – not complaining but COME ON!! I WANNA GO HOME! So, instead of making it home by 6, we finally got to the school to drop off the kids at 9pm, Becca and I didn’t get home until close to 10 because we had to stop and get dinner before heading home and I was STARVING since I hadn’t eaten since 1:30 and tried to stay away from the junk food – no dippin dots or funnel cakes for me! Becca was sound asleep by 10:30!!
All in all, the girls had a blast and except for some over exposure to the sun it was a wonderful day. No drama, no theatrics, no temper tantrums.
Yesterday Becca was exhausted and so was I. We had some errands to run but tried to relax most of the day. She tried pulling the “I don’t feel good” act yesterday hoping we’d allow her to stay home today to “rest” but it didn’t work this time. Of course, she was up until 10 doing the homework she didn’t do Friday and couldn’t do Saturday.
This week looks to be as busy as the last two weeks. I’ve got to hit one of my troops meetings tomorrow night, a field trip with Becca Wednesday along with GS on Wednesday night and Friday is the final Honor Roll Luncheon at school that I’ve volunteered to help with. I guess it’s a good thing my business hasn’t taken off yet. GRRRRR! I wish it would soon!!! I just may be looking for a real job soon because this is ridiculous.
